Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture: Youth Empowerment is Central to Sustainable Municipal and Agricultural Development  

H.E. Eng. Wael bin Nasser Al Mubarak, Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, emphasized that continuously enhancing youth engagement and empowering them in municipal and agricultural sectors constitutes a strategic priority. This initiative is fully in line with the vision and aspirations of His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa and the directives of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, which support the pivotal role of youth in shaping the present and building the future. These efforts contribute directly to realizing the objectives of Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and advancing the Sustainable Development Goals.

This came during a dialogue session held between H.E the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and a distinguished group of young participants in the third edition of the “Future Bet” program organized by the Bahrain Institute for Political Development, in the presence of Dr. Ibtisam Al-Dallal, Member of the Board of Trustees of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development; Ms. Eman Faisal Janahi, Executive Director of the Institute; Engineer Asim Abdul Latif Abdullah, Undersecretary for Agriculture and Animal Wealth; Engineer Isa Al-Buainain, Acting Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs and Director General of the Southern Municipality; along with a number of officials from the Ministry and the Institute. During the session, H.E reviewed the role of the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture and its efforts in developing urban infrastructure, in addition to national initiatives to enhance food security and agricultural sustainability.

H.E emphasized that the Ministry attaches special importance to youth as active partners in municipal and agricultural work, pointing out that engaging them in shaping initiatives and programs helps strengthen youth participation and fosters innovation in finding sustainable solutions to urban and environmental challenges.

He also highlighted the role of youth participation in the Ministry’s various programs, whether through municipal community partnership initiatives, agricultural projects, or programs to enhance food security and apply modern agricultural technologies.

The Minister further stressed that the Ministry’s future plans and strategic objectives are aligned with Bahrain’s Economic Vision 2030 and the Sustainable Development Goals, ensuring the continued advancement of the municipal and agricultural sectors, enhancing their ability to keep pace with rapid developments, and meeting community aspirations. He affirmed that young professionals are capable of making tangible contributions to driving development and strengthening food security.

H.E also praised the role of the Bahrain Institute for Political Development in designing national programs aimed at empowering youth, commending the level of engagement shown by the participants and the ambitious ideas they presented, which reflect their national awareness and keenness to actively contribute to serving the nation.

The participating youth, for their part, expressed their sincere gratitude and appreciation to H.E. the Minister of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, commending the Ministry’s efforts in advancing development across urban and agricultural sectors. They also expressed pride in the opportunity to engage in direct dialogue with officials and to gain insights into the visions and plans that guide the Kingdom’s development toward a more prosperous future.
