Assistant Undersecretary of Animal Wealth Inspects ‘Udhiyah’ Procedures

Dr. Ibrahim Yusuf, Assistant Undersecretary of Animal Wealth at the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture, oversees procedures of ‘Udhiyah’, the sacrificial slaughtering of animals during the period of Eid Al-Adha. This process is being done according to a set and approved plan aimed at facilitating the sacrifice ritual.

The Assistant Undersecretary for Animal Wealth stated that the ministry will continue monitoring and inspecting livestock for three days to ensure safety of consumption. These efforts will be in coordination with the Ministry of Interior, Ministry of Health, and the four Municipalities.

Dr. Ebrahim confirmed that veterinary health inspection teams are available during Eid Al-Adha to examine the animals and ensure proper distribution throughout the various locations designated for livestock slaughter during this period. Additionally, the Ministry of Municipalities Affairs and Agriculture coordinated with Ministry of Interior to provide community service patrols to regulate and organize the movement of citizens and residents participating in the sacrifice ritual. Moreover, cooperation with sanitation companies was also arranged to provide waste containers for proper disposal of slaughtering by-products.

The Assistant Undersecretary of Animal Wealth emphasized that regular health and veterinary supervision of slaughterhouses and slaughtering operations is conducted through inspections that are carried out before and after slaughtering. The veterinarians are instructed to examine the animals to ensure their safety for human consumption. Additionally, monitoring slaughtering sites by veterinary doctors and specialists from the Veterinary Quarantine Department is done to ensure the logistical and technical readiness of the designated livestock slaughter locations.
