Muharraq Municipality participates in Tree Week activities at Arad Castle Walk

In support of the initiatives of the National Action Plan to achieve carbon neutrality announced by His Majesty King Hamad bin Isa Al Khalifa, and in the framework of His Royal Highness Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa, Crown Prince and Prime Minister , His Excellency Engineer Mohammed bin Ahmed Al Khalifa, Undersecretary of Municipal Affairs at the Ministry of Municipalities and Agriculture, participated in the "Tree Week" activities organized by Muharraq Municipality at Arad Castle Walk, in the presence of Engineer Isa Abdulrahman Al Buainain, Acting Director General of Southern Region Municipality, Muharraq Municipality and Mr.Abdulaziz Al Naar, Chairman of Muharraq Municipal Council, and a number of council members, municipal officials, and residents of the seventh district of Muharraq Governorate.

In this context, the Undersecretary for Municipal Affairs stressed that the "Tree Week" activities came to enhance the afforestation plans and programs implemented by the Ministry to promote social responsibility and support the national plans that aim to double the number of trees to 3.6 million trees by 2035 and increase the green area, which contributes to reducing temperatures and improving the climate, praising in this regard the efforts and cooperation of municipal councils in achieving visions and initiatives that support these plans, programs and sustainable development goals.

For his part, the Acting Director General of the Southern Region Municipality praised the approval of the Council of Ministers, headed by His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister, for designating the third week of October every year as Tree Week, which plays a positive and effective role in promoting environmental awareness in the community and encouraging the adoption of environmentally friendly practices and spreading green spaces, supporting the implementation of the Kingdom of Bahrain's afforestation plan and its objectives

For his part, the Chairman of Muharraq Municipal Council noted that the launch of the Tree Week reflects the interest of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince and Prime Minister in expanding the green area in the Kingdom of Bahrain and fulfills the ambitions of municipal councils in creating a sustainable environment for citizens and residents, praising all national efforts in this regard and expressing the support of the Municipal Council for all similar initiatives that contribute to motivating the community to actively participate in afforestation and environmental preservation programs
